Congratulations on your new "Midnight BPM" watch

The NH71A is a skeletonized automatic caliber in the NH family of watch movements. This movement is based on the popular NH3 (NH35A) framework therefore is hackable as well as hand-windable. 

There is a similar caliber NH70. The NH71 is newer than the NH70. The main difference between these two movements is cosmetic: The NH70 is nickel plated and the NH71 is gold plated (gilt). 

The NH71A should be fully wound after about 55 manual turns of the crown. This movement is also equipped with the Seiko Magic Lever, so shaking the watch side to side should get it going almost immediately. 

The caliber NH71 has two crown positions (not counting screwing in the crown if your watch is equipped with a screw-down crown):

• 0 (against the case): Clockwise = Manual Winding / Counterclockwise = Nothing
• 1 (pulled out one click): Time setting mode

The NH71A should be fully wound after about 55 manual turns of the crown.

Setting the time on a watch with the NH71 movement is straightforward:

First, unscrew the crown from its case.

1. Pull the crown out to the first position. This stops the seconds hand, allowing for precise time setting (hacking function).

2. Turn the crown to set the desired time. Rotate clockwise or counterclockwise to move the hour and minute hands.

3. Push the crown back in to start the movement. The seconds hand will resume moving, and your time is set.

This movement is also equipped with the “Seiko Magic Lever” so shaking the watch side to side should get it going almost immediately.

Crown should be screwed in afterwards for effective waterproofing
